Why You Might Resonate with More Than One Eating Archetype (and What That Means for You)
Something I often hear is: “I feel like I resonate with more than one type.”
The truth is, that’s completely normal. Eating Archetypes are a starting point for understanding your food personality and eating tendencies, not a box to lock yourself into. You may connect strongly with one archetype right now, but at different points in your life another type may have been more dominant.
This is actually a good thing. Archetypes are a framework. They give us a language for our tendencies and help us build awareness, understanding, and self-compassion. That awareness makes it easier to be intentional (and more effective) when we want to shift our habits.
By nature, archetypes are more defined than most of us truly are. But leaning into them helps us notice patterns, create supportive systems, and make mindset shifts where we need them most. And because life is dynamic, your archetype tendencies may ebb and flow with time meaning this is something you can return to again and again.
Of course, our relationship with food is layered and nuanced. Beyond your eating personality, there are other factors that shape how you relate to food - like mindset, history, lifestyle, cooking skills, and mind-body awareness. These can overlap across archetypes and explain why you might see yourself in more than one.
I’ll be diving into those factors more deeply in next week’s blog, but for now, keep in mind that resonating with more than one type doesn’t mean you’re “doing it wrong.” It means you’re human and it means there are even more ways to use the archetypes as tools for growth.
